Dr. Akhtar Mahmood

Chair of the advisory panel

Dr. Akhtar Mahmood brings three decades of experience from the World Bank Group working in more than 25 countries. In his 25-year career at the WBG, he worked on privatization and state-owned-enterprise reforms in the former socialist economies of Eastern Europe and Central Asia and Africa, and on Private Sector Development issues in various regions of the world. 

Dr. Fahmida Khatun

Dr. Fahmida Khatun is an Economist and currently the Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a leading think-tank in South Asia. Dr. Khatun has undertaken research for various international organizations. She has authored books, book chapters, monograms and professional journals. She is a weekly columnist of The Daily Star. 

Dr. Mushfiq Mobarak

A Professor of Economics at Yale University, Dr Mushfiq is the founder and faculty director of the Yale Research Initiative on Innovation and Scale (Y-RISE). He holds other appointments at Innovations for Poverty Action, the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT, the International Growth Centre (IGC) at LSE.

Dina Hossain

Dina Hossain is an award-winning filmmaker, with over 20-years of experience in making documentaries and communications videos. She has worked with international organizations as well as organizations in Bangladesh, such as the World Bank, Swiss Red Cross, BLAST, icddrb and the Government of Bangladesh, making videos focused on issues of gender, the environment and human rights.

Ahasanul Islam Titu, MP

Mr. Ahasanul Islam Titu is an MBA graduate from Pittsburgh State University. He has served as the Vice President of Bangladesh Insurance Association, Founding President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Brokers Association of Bangladesh, and the President of Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Nihad Kabir

Barrister Nihad Kabir is a Bangladeshi celebrated business personality, lawyer and educator. She is well known for being one of the prominent lawyers in Bangladesh. She is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and currently serves as the President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka since 2017. In 2018, she was re-elected as the President of MCCI for 2019.

Pauline Boerma

Dr Pauline Boerma is an economist and environmental specialist based in Oxford. She obtained a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, a MSc in Development Economics from SOAS University of London and a DPhil in Environmental Geography from the University of Oxford. She’s currently working as an independent consultant and serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at Oxfordshire Discovery College.

Khandaker Muqtadir​
Mr. Khandakar Abdul Muktadir is a politician, businessman and philanthropist with mass popularity in the Sylhet region. He was formerly the Chairman of Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTTLMEA), a Director at Turkey Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, a Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries. He is serving as an advisor to the Chairperson, Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Shameem Haider Patwary, MP

Barrister Shameem is now the Presidium member, and Additional Secreatry General of the Jatiya Party and a Member of Parliamemt (MP) from Gaibandha-1. Apart from his political role, he is the head of the chamber of Patwary Jurist and Associates. He serves as the Chairman of DIU and ten other vocational and charitable educational institutes across the country.

M NAWSHAD ZAMIR

M Nawshad Zamir (Barrister Lincoln’s Inn 1999 and Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh 1996), is the International Affairs Secretary at BNP. He has worked as legal adviser to commercial entities and banks (including Islamic banks), insurance companies, IT firms, telecom companies, shipping companies. He acted as a Specialist Contract Adviser to the Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Company(IIFC). In addition to his court practice, Nawshad regularly conducts international arbitration. 

Nahim Razzaq MP

Razzaq is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Shariatpur-3. He is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, and has previously served in the Standing Committees on Youth and Sports, and Disaster Management and Relief. As the Founding Convener of Young Bangla, he is a staunch advocate for Youth Engagement. 

Dr. Naomi Hossain

Dr. Naomi Hossain is a noted political sociologist whose research focuses on the politics of development. She is currently a Research Professor in Development studies at SOAS University of London. Previously she was a Research Professor at the Accountability Research Center at the American University as well as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex.

Prof. Saleemul Huq

Environment and Climate Change Policy Network

Prof. Saleemul Huq is the Director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) and Professor at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). He is serving a multitude of roles which also include Associate of the International Institute on Environment and Development (IIED) in the United Kingdom, Chair of the Expert Advisory Group for the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and Senior Adviser on Locally Led Adaptation with Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) headquartered in the Netherlands.

Dr. Senjuti Saha

Dr. Senjuti Saha is a Scientist at the Child Health Research Foundation, Bangladesh, working at the intersection of molecular biology and public health. After completing her PhD in Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto in Canada, she moved back to Bangladesh to work in the front lines of public health. She is a member of the Polio Transition Independent Monitoring Board of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, a Gates Goalkeeper of Sustainable Development Goals, and an Associate Editor of BMJ Global health.

Shahariar Sadat is an advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and is currently the Head of Human Rights and Legal Aid Services (HRLS) at BRAC. Simultaneously, he is affiliated with Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) as a panel mediator and master trainer.

Dr. Asif M. Shahan

Dr. Asif M. Shahan is currently working as an Associate Professor at Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka. He is a Fulbright Fellow and has a PhD in political science from George Mason University where he has explored how the Government Accountability Office (GAO) of USA managed to preserve its autonomy while being relevant in the policy process.He has worked on difference issues related with administrative system, government performance, accountability, social protection and governance of Bangladesh for more than 10 years.

Mr. Khaled Mahfuz is a Development Management Professional currently working as Program Manager if human capacity development unit at Palli Karma-Kahayak Foundation (PKSF). Prior to that he worked extensively for human capital development, private sector engagement for modernisation of education and agriculture sector and natural resource management in Angola. He has been involved in numerous development projects at home and Africa. He has worked extensively with youth and has proven to be a strong coach who has been able to develop individuals in a both direct and indirect reporting relationship. He is also a social entrepreneur and has keen interest on photography and film making
