An Overview of Global Value Chains (GVC)

July 2022

This policy paper aims to look at the ever pervasive Global Value Chains (GVC). Starting off with a brief introduction to the concept, the paper then moves on to describe the economic significance of GVCs and some issues that have risen from the wide scale implementation of such. Particularly, the environmental implications, and the issues surrounding taxation, subsidies and GDP calculations across countries were highlighted. Finally, the paper concludes with some robust policy recommendations based on data and evidence.
