The government decides to provide online payment services to taxpayers
Taxpayers can now pay their returns from home as the government provides automated services. Necessary measures have been taken so that people can pay their taxes online from the running year.

2. Trade & Business
RMG sectors get a substantial amount of orders while price remains stable
The number of orders RMG sectors booked was more than that of the pre-pandemic level. However, some said it might take another season to recover. To recover from the loss as soon as possible, some exporters had to take in orders without raising the price.

3. Sports
Bangladesh seal first-ever T20I series win against New Zealand
Bangladesh beat New Zealand by five wickets in a low-scoring fourth T20I and took the five-match series 2-1. This was Bangladesh’s first series win against New Zealand in the shortest format. Bangladesh registered their ninth win in T20Is this year, the most by any team. This was also the first time Bangladesh won three T20I series on the trot.

Bangladesh aims at doubling rice productivity by 2050
The government aims to increase rice yield to 47 million tons by 2030 and 54 million tons by 2040

5. Expert Opinion
Bank accounts for domestic workers may solve many problems
Bangladesh aims at doubling its rice productivity by the year 2050 and has just chalked out a detailed strategy paper, drawing plans for growing more food for an increasing population and producing some exportable surplus.
The government could make the opening of bank accounts mandatory unless the market for domestic help gets matured enough. The bank account could be opened with a letter from the employer, stipulating the terms of employment, including salary, leave, etc. As a result, a reliable database could be built for domestic workers. Since girls or boys from the age of 12 years can be engaged under the policy, a special minor account in this regard may be approved by the Bangladesh Bank. This could help solve many of the problems we have when it comes to this sector.

6. National News
Government to arrange special training project for women, youth and the poor to deal with post covid job market

The National Economic Council has approved the training on technology for 6.5 lakh deprived people, especially women. Of a total budget of Tk. 4,299.99 crore for the project of time period July 2021- December 2026, 60% is funded by the World Bank. Vocational skills and training on digital technology, financial and industrial management will be taught in the project.

7. Achievements of Bangladeshis
Bangladeshi e-commerce startup, ShopUp, receives $75 million in the largest financing round in South Asia
The investment was made by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures in a Series B round. ShopUp’s headquarter is Dhaka-based as well as it has an office in Bangalore. It is currently focusing on establishing a full-stack business-to-business commerce platform to bring all the local stores under digital presence. According to Afeef Zaman, co-founder, and CEO of ShopUp, the business has engaged in a partnership with giant producers and distributors to facilitate local stores with their inventory and resources supply.
