Two Britons, one Moroccan sentenced to death by court of Russian proxy in Ukraine
Two Britons and a Moroccan who were captured while fighting for Ukraine were sentenced to death on Thursday by a court in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), one of Russia’s proxies in eastern Ukraine, Russian news agencies reported.

Biden calls democracy ‘hallmark of our region’ after blocking nations with ‘dictators’ at Americas summit
President Joe Biden highlighted democracy as a “hallmark” of the Western Hemisphere at the ninth Summit of the Americas Wednesday, as the administration faced boycotts for blocking several autocratic governments from attending the summit. Several leaders, including Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Honduran President Xiomara Castro, were among the leaders who skipped out of the summit. Those two leaders criticized the Biden administration for not extending an invitation to all countries in the region, including Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, to attend.

Global growth outlook downgraded by both World Bank and OECD
The World Bank cut its forecast for global economic expansion in 2022 further, warning that several years of above-average inflation and below-average growth lie ahead with potentially destabilizing consequences for low- and middle-income economies.
Meanwhile, due to Russia’s war in Ukraine, OECD estimates a 3% growth lower than its previous forecast. OECD doubled its inflation forecast among member countries. They further elaborated that the poorer nations will suffer the most because of the economic downturn.

USB-C will be mandatory for phones sold in the EU ‘by autumn 2024’- A major blow to Apple’s Lightning port
European Union lawmakers have reached an agreement on legislation that will force all future smartphones sold in the EU — including Apple’s iPhone — to be equipped with the universal USB-C port for wired charging by fall 2024. The rule will also apply to other electronic devices including tablets, digital cameras, headphones, handheld video game consoles, and e-readers. Laptops will have to comply with the rule at a later date.

Thousands evacuated, three injured as wildfire rages in Spain
A wildfire broke out in Spain that forced 3000 people to relocate, and three firefighters were injured. Previously, last year in September, the same area in Spain was affected by a six-day wildfire.
