Warren Buffett joins $100 billion club as his stock soars
Warren Buffett has finally joined the exclusive $100bn (£72bn) club at 90. The Berkshire Hathaway Inc. chairman’s wealth jumped on Wednesday (March 10, 2021) to $100.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. That makes Buffett the sixth member of the $100 billion club, a group including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and his friend Bill Gates.

Security tight at U.S. Capitol after police warn of a possible militia attack
Myanmar’s military rulers have accused the ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi of illegally accepting $600,000 (£430,000) and gold. The allegation is the strongest yet levelled by the military since it overthrew Ms Suu Kyi and the country’s democratic leadership on 1 February. No evidence was provided for the charge.

Some children’s hospitals see a surge in rare Covid-19 complication
The novel coronavirus is increasingly causing children to develop Multi-system inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) that seems to inflame different parts of the body. Till March 1, there have been 2617 cases of MIS-C in the USA out of which 33 children have died.

iPhone 12 Assembly Starts in India, Apple Announces
Apple Inc announced that assembly of the iPhone 12 has begun in India, as the company expands its manufacturing operations in the world’s second-largest smartphone market. According to two sources familiar with the situation, Apple’s Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn’s Indian unit will assemble the device in Tamil Nadu.

Nearly 75% of rural women in India who work full-time are farmers, according to NGO Oxfam India. But less than 13% of women own the land they till.

US vaccine drive fails to reach Black and Hispanic communities
While U.S. communities of color are at higher risk for severe or fatal COVID-19 infections, white people have been vaccinated at twice the rate of Blacks and two-and-a-half times the rate of Hispanics, according to a study by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

US to unveil Paris climate pact commitments in April
France and the US have made a joint commitment in the battle against climate change. US climate envoy John Kerry confirmed that the United States would lay out new financing commitments for the Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions ahead of an April 22nd summit, the pact’s fifth anniversary.
